celebrating africa in cheltenham

A small mural commission on a residential street, right right next to a public park. Before they commissioned me, the owners of this property had painted signs onto their public-facing garage door in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. They didn’t want to remove those messages, so my brief was to find a permanent statement of valuing Black lives. The subsequent mural is a lush celebration of plants found in Africa, beautiful blooms interwoven with patterns found from across the continent. Some patterns form a backdrop to the plants, others adorn and add texture to the foliage.
